Summary
Visitors to Dumfries and Galloway in South West Scotland can follow in the footsteps of Robert Burns and discover what inspired the poet to create some of his best writing here. You can see the places where he lived and worked and imagine how life must have been for him and his family in the latter part of the 18th century. Many great treasures from the poet’s life – manuscript poems and personal possessions can be discovered as you explore Dumfries and Galloway and, although there are lots of other sites with a Burns connection, the aim of this tour is to highlight the hidden gems of the National Burns Collection in this unique area.
